August Update

Posted in Books, Miscellaneous on August 7, 2016 by C J Spear

Just a short blog post this month to update everyone on my writing schedule. While I was hard at work on the Return of the Dragons sequel, real life reared its ugly head and I’ve had to make some important changes, mainly that I’m now working a full-time job.

In terms of my writing, this means I now have less time on my hands, and so it will be longer before I can complete the book. I’m not particularly happy about that situation, but right now I have no choice, and I wanted to let everyone know that they shouldn’t get their hopes up about the sequel appearing any time soon.

I still plan on creating monthly blog posts (assuming I continue to find things to talk about), so you’ll still see content from me here, and I’ll sure to post the odd update on book progress.

I hope this isn’t too disappointing for anyone, but the reality is that it’s almost impossibly hard to make a living as a writer unless you’re incredibly talented or incredibly lucky (or have good connections), but I still hope I can keep producing fun stuff that people will enjoy reading; it will just appear more slowly.

As always, you can hit me up on twitter @heroicrant or just keep following me here for posts and updates.

The Logic of Reason

Posted in Miscellaneous, Rants with tags , , , , on May 27, 2012 by C J Spear

It took me a while to think of a topic to write about this week – it happens from time to time. I said a while back that I was going to write an Avengers review, but I’m holding back on that until I’ve watched it a second time, and so this week I’ll just sort of be musing on a topic that I’ve had on my mind recently. Apologies if it’s a little philosophical, but if you’re a regular reader here you should be used to reading incoherent rants.

I’ve been thinking a lot recently about the concept of logic. Logic is what I base most of my decisions on, and largely defines how I live my life, and this is true for almost all of us whether we realize it or not. Every decision we make is based on what seems reasonable and logical to us – if something seems too illogical, we won’t do it, unless we decide that being illogical is what makes it worth it (see: hipsters).

The Concept of Power

Posted in Miscellaneous, Rants with tags , , , on April 29, 2012 by C J Spear

The concept of power has always fascinated me. While I usually understand the logic behind most things that drive people, power is always something that has eluded my understanding. I suppose I’m just one of those people that doesn’t seek power, and while that’s fine in and of itself, what’s problematic is the fact that I don’t really understand the logic behind why anyone else would want to be powerful.

Miscellaneous Rants

Posted in Miscellaneous, Rants with tags , , , , , , on April 22, 2012 by C J Spear

A lot of things get on my nerves, whether they be big things or more minor things that other people don’t really notice. Most of these things warrant a post to themselves, however there are a few things that I don’t really have much to say about, and yet I feel deserve to be acknowledged. Hence todays post – miscellaneous rants. A list of things that, in no particular order, will point out annoyances and issues I’ve noticed in every day life. I can’t promise you’ll agree with them all, but at the very least you should be able to deride some pleasure from my irritation.

Operation Heroic Rant

Posted in Miscellaneous on March 28, 2012 by C J Spear

To start off, a little history. I’ve always liked writing, whether that be fiction or articles or whatever. A couple years back, I had the chance to do some regular writing that I could get feedback on – my weekly GM update on the guild site. The idea was to try and get more people visiting the guild site, and I enjoyed the challenge of writing a different topic each week. After a while though, I was beginning to get busy with other things, and the articles were only being read by about 5 or 6 people, so I decided to stop and start my own blog, which I could add to in my own time and (theoretically, at least) reach a larger audience. Of course, what ended up happening was that with the weekly deadline removed, I rarely got any articles written, and then when I stopped playing WoW I just stopped writing.

Off Topic

Posted in Miscellaneous, Rants on September 24, 2010 by C J Spear

Allow me to deviate from my usual WoW-based rants for a moment, dear readers, as I think a post every now and then about things not concerning WoW may actually be worth a read (shocker, I know). I want to write this post for several reasons, and while the main one may be I still have a category with no posts in it and I felt like I should do something about it, I’ve had a lot of other random things on my mind as of late and I normally find that writing them down simplifies them. By writing them here, you’ll have something to occupy yourself for 5 minutes while you’re bored at work/home/school/life etc.
